The UV water sterilizer PurePro 6 GPM is designed for treating microbiologically unsuitable water such as rainwater, water from private springs and wells, and water from poorly maintained plumbing. The flow is up to 1,360 L/h, the connection is ½”, and the housing is made of AISI 304L stainless steel (dimensions 68 × 7 cm).

According to the manufacturer it destroys harmful microorganisms, including bacteria (E. coli, salmonella, Vibrio cholerae, legionella), protozoan cysts (Giardia, Cryptosporidium), viruses and single-celled organisms. Water treated in this way is microbiologically safe and suitable for drinking, preparing food and washing. The UV dose is at least 30,000 µWs/cm² at a flow of 1,360 L/h. How does it work?

The water flows through a stainless steel tube containing a 32-watt UV-C lamp. The light damages the DNA of microorganisms, so they can no longer multiply. The process is physical, without chemicals, and the water keeps its taste and smell. The device has a UV lamp alarm and runs on 220 V, 50 Hz. The maximum pressure is 8 bar and the maximum water temperature is 40 °C.

For UV light to reach all microorganisms, the water must be clear. Install a sediment pre-filter before the sterilizer. Suitable are house water filters, for example the triple Big Blue 10BB house filter with metal housing and pressure gauge or the Big Blue 10BB sediment house filter. For water with a lot of iron or limescale, add a suitable cartridge, for example the 10BB iron removal filter.

When and which lamp to choose

The lamp has a service life of 9,000 hours, which means about one year of continuous operation. Replace it after that, even if it still lights, because the UV output drops over time. The first lamp is already included in the price of the sterilizer.
