UV water sterilizer WATEX 5400 L/h (UVS-90, 2 × 55 W) for high flows: destroys 99.99% of bacteria and viruses. 304 stainless steel, 90 L/min.

water disinfection for inns, schools, kindergartens and apartment buildings
The UV water sterilizer WATEX 5400 L/h (UVS-90) is a powerful device for disinfecting water at high flows, up to 90 L/min (5.4 m³/h). It is designed for mountain huts, associations, inns, schools, kindergartens, industrial plants and apartment buildings, as well as households and buildings with their own spring or well, where the risk of microbiological contamination is greatest.
The sterilizer has two 55-watt UV lamps (110 W in total), a 304 stainless steel housing and a 1” connection. According to the manufacturer it destroys 99.99% of bacteria, viruses, algae and moulds without chemicals, and the water keeps its natural taste, colour and smell. For lower flows see the WATEX 2,700 L/h UV water sterilizer or the WATEX 1100 L/h UV water sterilizer.
How does it work?
The water flows through a stainless steel tube containing two UV-C lamps in protective quartz sleeves. Light with a wavelength of 253.7 nm damages the DNA of microorganisms, so they can no longer multiply. The minimum UV dose is more than 36 μW/cm². The manufacturer states effectiveness against bacteria such as E. coli and salmonella, and against viruses.
For the light to reach all microorganisms, the water must be clear. Install a mechanical filter of at least 5 microns before the sterilizer to remove larger particles and reduce turbidity. A suitable option is the 5 micron sediment filter for the 20BB house filter in a Big Blue 20BB housing with pressure gauge, and for larger buildings also the triple Big Blue 20BB house filter.
When and which lamps to choose
Replace the lamps once a year or after 9,000 hours of operation. At every replacement also clean the protective quartz sleeves, because deposits reduce the effectiveness of sterilisation. In this sterilizer you replace both lamps at the same time.
For the UV water sterilizer WATEX 5400 L/h you need two 55-watt UV lamps. A suitable one is the 55 W replacement lamp for UV water sterilizers, 4 pin (€59.90). Order two, and before buying check the length and base type, because the manufacturer's page does not state the lamp model. Do not use lamps of a different power. You will find all spare parts in the category spare parts for water filters and UV sterilizers.
If you need reliable water disinfection for an inn, school, kindergarten or larger building, the UV water sterilizer WATEX 5400 L/h is a powerful and proven solution. Also see all UV water sterilizers.
