The UV water sterilizer PurePro 1 GPM is a compact stainless steel UVC attachment for reverse osmosis systems and other under-sink filters. It is installed as the last stage after the filters and disinfects the water with UV light before it reaches the tap. According to the manufacturer it destroys bacteria and viruses in 99.99% of cases, without chemicals.

The designation 1 GPM means about one gallon per minute (around 3.8 L/min), which is enough for a kitchen tap. The sterilizer has a 6-watt UV lamp and is very easy to install. For higher flows see the UV water sterilizer PurePro 2 GPM or the UV water sterilizer PurePro 6 GPM.

How does it work?

After filtration and reverse osmosis, the water flows past a UV lamp that emits UV-C light. The light damages the DNA of bacteria and viruses, so they can no longer multiply. Disinfection is immediate, without chemicals and without changing the taste or smell of the water.

The UV water sterilizer PurePro 1 GPM runs on 220 V (or 110 V) and uses only 6 W. The manufacturer recommends connecting it to a timer and setting a suitable running time, so the lamp does not burn needlessly and does not warm the water. The water should already be filtered before it: suitable under-sink water filters and RO stages are, for example, the GAC + KDF activated carbon filter 10" and the sintered carbon CB-AF CTO 10 micron filter cartridge. When and which lamp to choose

The lamp has a service life of about 8,000 hours, which is around 11 months of continuous operation. Replace it after that, even if it still lights, because the UV output drops over time. Using a timer extends the interval between replacements.

For the UV water sterilizer PurePro 1 GPM you need the UVC-S212T5 6 W replacement UV lamp (€35.00), designed for this sterilizer. Take care not to mix it up with the S01 6 W lamp, which belongs to another sterilizer (the UV water sterilizer 120 L/h).
